In the past decade, natural material has become a popular choice for houseware items. Except traditional natural material such as marble, wood, and metal, houseware made with new plant base materials like bamboo fiber, coffee ground, pineapple leaves are also emerging in the household scene.
Bamboo fiber is an eco-friendlier version of melamine, which is a familiar material for tableware and kitchenware. As conventional melamine consist of more than 30% of wood pulp, replacing part of wood pulp with bamboo fiber helps to reduce the amount of wood used in the production. Meanwhile, adding bamboo fiber to the compound makes it more biodegradable.
Since conventional melamine doesn’t breakdown easily, it won’t become microplastic in the ocean. What’s more, when melamine is burnt in the incinerator with other general waste, it doesn’t create toxic gas. Bamboo fiber also features these quality, and that’s why it has become a popular choice for products designed with eco-concept.
